Walking on Sunshine

By July 26, 2018No Comments

Sunshine House, Inc. is a charitable, non-profit organization that has proudly served hard-pressed citizens of Alpine for nearly four decades. Working tirelessly each day to sustain a hunger-free, healthy community, and to provide quality nourishment and social enrichment to the city’s elderly, home-bound, and disabled, Sunshine House spearheads Meals on Wheels, along with dances, live music performances, social gatherings, and community awareness activities to spread kindness and cheer seldom seen today. The new facility presents an opportunity for the community to become more involved in the cause, and will allow Sunshine House the capacity to accommodate larger crowds for social events such as hosting high school sports teams dinners, all-age bingo nights, and the latest Busy Bee Quilting group sales.

Run strictly by volunteers, Sunshine House is always looking to fill vacancies with permanent and substitute drivers. Drivers spend as little as an hour a week delivering meals. Volunteers are also needed to help assemble 150 sack lunches each Thursday, another task that takes less than an hour. To volunteer, contact Karen Gibson or Judy Ford at 432-837-5402.
