The Alpine ISD Board of Trustees met on Sept. 19, and discussed Alpine Elementary School’s plan to set goals and achieve a higher score on its Texas Education Agency improvement required rating for the past academic year.

Principals from all three AISD campuses presented information about their goals and strategies for the current school year. Elementary school Principal Judith Pardo-Alferez said their plan included a campus leadership team consisting of a business representative, a parent, and a community member. She also discussed the district-wide goal of having 80 percent of students meet the standards for the targeted improvement plan. They will also implement a writing center to address low scores in that area. In conclusion, trustees approved the district-wide plan, and Superintendent Becky McCutchen said it would be submitted to the Texas Education Agency.
