It’s been a great year for tourism in the Big Bend region, with visitor numbers up at area parks and surrounding businesses. “Visitation has been astronomical this year,” said Brewster County Tourism Council President Ron Sanders. “It’s usually slow in the warmer months, but it’s not slowing down yet.”
The April 2016 report for Big Bend National Park, the most recent available, showed a total of 37,477 visits to the park.
