Morning scenic cruise loop from Alpine through the Davis Mountains made a stop at McDonald Observatory. Authentic Big Bend-style Mexican lunch served at Tivo’s Restaurant en route to event check-in at Maverick Ranch, Lajitas. Afternoon scenic cruise into Chisos Mountains within Big Bend National Park.

Thursday evening buffet dinner featured live music by Trevor Hickle on the porch of the Candelilla Cafe at Lajitas Resort, adjacent to the Thirsty Goat Saloon, followed by Texas Hold-Em charity poker (buy-in went to local charities).

Friday, October 3 – Performance!

All-day track events and fun included 1/4 mile, 1/2 mile, and slalom events at Terlingua (Lajitas) International Airport on the closed airport runway.
Prime rib and salmon fillet buffet dinner overlooking the Rio Grande (international border) at the Ocotillo Restaurant, Lajitas Resort & Spa.

Saturday, October 4 – Carroll Shelby Memorial Cruise and Speed Run
All-day road trip loop “around the Bend” passed through the scenic and historic Big Bend towns of Presidio, Shafter, Marfa, Alpine, Study Butte, Terlingua, and back to Lajitas. Included Texas FM 170 along the Rio Grande through Big Bend State Ranch, one of the 5 most scenic and fun driving roads in our great nation! BBQ lunch and Shelby Car Show at The Stable, Alpine, TexasAfternoon speed event on a *closed* section of scenic Texas Highway 118!Buffet dinner and live music on the lawn near La Cuesta pool, Lajitas Resort & SpaSunday, October 5Happy Trails ‘Till We Meet Again…
BBQ lunch and extended good-byes between old and new friends at David and Reine’s Casa del Corazones (“Hearts’ Home Over Hearts Draw”), locally famous for its amazing and unique 120-degree view into and through adjacent Big Bend National Park, including the 5,000-foot sheer ramparts of the Maderas del Carmen Protected Area in Mexico. Casa del Corazones is the crown of Hearts Draw Ranch, a small portion of Terlingua Ranch – the huge spread once co-owned by Carroll Shelby and David Witts.
