A new effort is underway to secure a 72-bed skilled nursing facility in Alpine to serve the three-county Big Bend region.
Volunteer consultant Jim McDonald of Alpine said that this is his third try to put together the disparate resources needed to satisfy a feasibility study by the Big Bend Regional Hospital District in 2012.
McDonald said he hopes to break ground on the project within six to eight months.
