Star Parties happen several times a year at Sierra La Rana. With our new blog post I will begin keeping you up to date on them and the high points. To catch us up…at the last star party several people worked on time-lapse photography and this Milky Way photo was taken with a 20 second exposure and seemed to be the best. This past Saturday night the big talk was what looked like a whitish haze on the western horizon. Come to find out occasionally you can see ‘Comet’ dust. It was amazing to see. Dave Oesper and the Big Bend Astronomy club put the Star Parties together for us and give short lectures and use a lazer pointer to give guided tours that cover light years in distance….. and we are already looking for a date for the next one.
