San Angelo Standard Times discovers Alpine

The seat of the largest county in Texas, Alpine serves as the regional hub for the 6,193 square miles of Brewster County. Its location gives it relatively easy access to isolated tourist attractions such as Big Bend National Park (82 miles), the Davis Mountains (27 miles) McDonald Observatory (40 miles), the Marfa Lights Viewing Area (17 miles) and the Terlingua Ghost Town (84 miles). Whichever destination a traveler chooses, every road leading out of Alpine is low on traffic but high on spectacular scenery of the desert and mountains.
