Ready for take-off

A select group of six Marfa science students is getting ready to launch an experiment that’s literally out of this world.

The fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students, called the Marfa Martians, led by teacher Cheri Aguero, are now prepared to launch their microgravity experiment to the International Space Station.  “The whole team is really excited about it. This is the first time we have done it in Marfa, the kinds of hands on learning, project based learning that school will be doing more of,” said Aguero. “I know this has opened their eyes to opportunities in the scientific field now, and now science and engineering is wide open in front of them.”
