It is no secret that the Big Bend area of Texas is a stargazer’s paradise, with spectacular skies and star-splashed nights. “A friend and I drove 1,300 miles to get here, and fell in love with it. When you come here on a moonless night during the summer time, you see the Milky Way, You can see the structure and detail. The things you can see are very impressive, even just what you can see with the naked eye. If you come out here in the winter time, you can actually see Andromeda galaxy.” All are looking forward to Aug. 14, the date for the next meteor shower. “The Perseids are one of the best meteor showers in the year. There are 75 to 100 meteors an hour.”
