Marfa Lights Festival

By July 30, 2014No Comments

Marfa, August 29-31

Marfa is known for an unexplained phenomenon that takes place after sunset, when mysterious lights occasionally appear in the desert east of town. While the lights are viewable year-round, the festival named for them only appears once each year—Labor Day weekend.

Come and enjoy the family fun at the 27th annual Marfa Lights Festival, August 29-31, on the Presidio County courthouse lawn in beautiful downtown Marfa, Tx.

Numerous musical groups will play each day along with dance groups from the Tri county area. Headlining our Friday night music is the fantastic Craig Carter Band.  Boot scooting country at its best. Saturday morning is the huge parade down main street Marfa with Presidio veterans  being honored as Grandmasters of the Parade. There will be great floats, high school bands from the area, pets and lots of horses and other spectacles that only Marfa could produce.

Saturday night is the night for the outstanding Sonny Ozuna and the Sunliners playing at Vizcano Park. This group will delight and entertain with their own blend of “Old and New, North and South of the border” music. So bring your chairs and beverages and be ready to dance.

Marfa Lights Festival is “family reunion time” in West Texas. See you there.
