ICU opens at Medical Center

By December 16, 2016No Comments

With the recent opening of an intensive care unit at Big Bend Regional Medical Center, some Tri-County patients can now receive appropriate care locally and save themselves flights to hospitals far away.

The hospital’s critical care unit has opened and closed several times over the years, its efforts mostly hampered by lack of staff, but Moore said this time the hospital plans to keep it open. Dr. Raphael Escovar serves as ICU medical director, and Adrienne Dreyfus serves as ICU nursing director. A full time nursing staff will cover the ICU, and in case of an emergency, either the primary care physician or Escovar would treat the patient.
