The company chose to relocate its Arizona facility to Presidio in response to a prospering relationship with chili growers at El Oasis, an agricultural community of Mennonites west of Chihuahua City in Chihuahua, Mexico. It just made sense to be closer to the growers and the international port of entry at Presidio, Biad said. Because of the large quantities of fuel needed to run the dehydration process, the plant required access to natural gas utilities. Success in Presidio was contingent upon making a connection to Energy Transfer Partner’s 143-mile-long natural gas pipeline, completed at the end of March.
