This annual event brings to the Sul Ross State University campus historians, archeologists, folklorists and other researchers studying the past and present of the Big Bend region and northern Mexico.
What began 25 years ago as a modest open house for local art galleries has grown up over the years into a city-wide celebration of art and music. More than two dozen displays of original artwork will open all over downtown Alpine—many accompanied by live music—in permanent galleries as well as new exhibits popping up just for the weekend.
The three events in October at The Stable Performance Cars in Alpine are: October 5-7 – Alamo Area Corvette Club, October 7-11 Hosting the Terlingua Pre-Event, October 12-14 – Hosting San Antonio Mustang Weekend
A 160-mile ultra marathon through Big Bend Ranch State Park. Runners meet up in Alpine, and celebrate the end of the race at our own Big Bend Brewing Company!
Photographs must be taken in the City of Alpine and its immediate surroundings. Photos within the City are preferred. “Immediate surroundings” includes the roads and ranches between Alpine and its neighboring communities, but not the towns themselves (photos taken in or beyond Marfa, Fort Davis, Marathon, and Terlingua will not be eligible). The contest is open to entries through September 30, 2018. Up to five photographs may be entered per participant.
