MARFA – Bike Marfa has hit the streets of town, offering 14 bicycles to rent at two locations, the Hotel Paisano and Marfa Public Radio.
For Design Marfa co-founder Buck Johnston, seeing the project ready for public use was the “big-gest relief” of her life, she said with a laugh.
It’s been a two-year endeavor, and since the August 17 rollout, Bike Marfa has seen 250 rentals by 176 users. Johnston said the recent Trans-Pecos Festival of Music + Love weekend saw the most traffic. Some people rented bikes for 48 hours while some used them for an hour or two. The aver-age rental duration is an hour.
“I really believe the best way to see Marfa is on a bike,” said Johnston.
